THE 6TH INTERNATIONAL MARITIME SECURITY SYMPOSIUM

The 6th International Maritime Security Symposium (IMSS) convened on February 17, 2025, in Bali, Indonesia. Organized by the Indonesian Navy, this biennial event serves as a platform for naval leaders worldwide to discuss pressing maritime security issues. This year’s symposium was held in conjunction with the 5th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) 2025, emphasizing collaborative efforts in maritime security.

The symposium attracted delegations from 38 countries, including the United States, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Italy. Discussions centered on combating illegal maritime activities such as smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal fishing. Indonesian Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing natural disasters and enhancing humanitarian assistance.
